Michael Coburn Bio
Michael Coburn is Chief Technology Officer of Michael Coburn Technologies, an innovative IT Services and Consulting company offering a wide varity of technology solutions for small and medium sized business. In his role as CTO, Mr. Coburn is responsible for overseeing the company’s strategic direction for the application’s architecture and technology as well as managing the service infrastructure, development, and operations.
Michael has over 20 years of technical and business experience with companies such as CBS, About.com, IDT, Arkadium Inc. and The Fresh Diet. In addition to a combination of technical and business acumen, Michael also possesses an in-depth knowledge of a vast array of internet application technologies, and a cutting edge eye for business.
Prior to founding Michael Coburn Technologies, Michael had worked in Miami directing the technology for an innovative renewable energy trading company dealing in ethanol and bio-diesel on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Michael had joined Kempler & Co. after working in New York city for Arkadium Inc., a leading social game development company that offers the industry’s most comprehensive game library for branding and unique user experiences. Michael was instrumental in working with Mattel Inc. in the deployment of the gaming software for their U.B Funkeys toy line. Michael joined Arkadium from Maritime Protective Services where he was director Information Technology for the overall company IT strategy with responsibility for maintenance and monitoring of the firms network and monitoring station framework. Michael joined Maritime Protective Services in 2005 following three years as the Owner/Operator of Electric Rentals, South Florida’s first Segway rental center. Understanding their business needs Michael raised over 70,000 in capital for start-up. He negotiated contracts with such agencies as British Petroleum, Barton G, and Norwegian Cruise Lines for Segway excursions as well as designed and provided bicycle tours to the local tourism industry. Before starting Electric Rentals, Mr. Coburn held various positions at major New York media firms. He spent time at CBS News as a Senior Network Engineer working for CBS NewsPath, a satellite news gathering organization. Michael began his career in the United States Coast Guard in the field of Maritime Electronics.
Mr. Coburn has attended Trident University and has held his Cisco Certified Network Professional Certification and Certified Information Systems Security Professional Certification, as well as several Microsoft certifications. In addition, Mr. Coburn has been conferred numerous awards for volunteer work with the Groton Connecticut Public School System.
